Road Trip: Summer in Full Swing

Live vicariously through your coworkers and their travels

July 09, 2019
Now that we’re grown, summer break isn’t really a “thing” anymore. As they say, youth is wasted on the young.

But there should always be time for a summer road trip – near or far, beach or… beach.

Here’s a look at where our team members have been so far this summer. Remember, if you have travel plans, snap a photo on location with your Toyota or Lexus and send it to driverseat@toyota.com. If we share your photo, we’ll send you a pair of Sockios.

Throwback Alert – R&D engineer Albert Carter just returned from a global assignment in Japan. He purchased the ultimate souvenir: a 1986 Levin (aka AE86 Corolla). Not sure how he got it back to Michigan, but hey – cool car.
S’mores Season – PEMC’s Cameron Hodge took his 2019 4Runner TRD Pro into the wilderness for a camping trip at Cave Run Lake near Morehead, Kentucky.
An Unexpected Guest – TMMC’s Nachiket Yardi drove this Land Cruiser more than 1,000 miles through rain storms and sunny days on a family vacation in Iceland. Yardi says they unknowingly picked up a mouse in Reykjavik and didn’t notice until about 700 miles later. The mouse reportedly had a great time.
Two Are Better Than One – Quality’s Megan Bone road tripped through the Texas Panhandle in a 2019 4Runner TRD Pro. Her friend followed behind in a 2003 SR5 4Runner.
Cute Co-Pilot –  R&D’s John Arvan lets his four month-old puppy, Maverick, ride up front in their 2019 4Runner TRD Pro. And looking at that face, wouldn’t you?
Power in Numbers – R&D’s Peter Piper sent this photo of his family’s cabin in Northern Michigan. He says this is what the yard looks like when the whole family visits – five Toyotas in a row!
Sizzling Sienna – TFS Western CSC quality specialist Kyle Snedeker and his family visited Joshua Tree National Park and found themselves surrounded by twisted, spiky trees straight out of a Dr. Seuss book. After a fun afternoon of scrambling over, under and around the boulders that make up the landscape, they quickly escaped back into their beloved Sienna SE and cranked the AC up to high.
Off the Grid – TFS’ Santiago Rodriguez took his son for a week-long trip to Big Bend, Texas in their 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro.
Out of the Office – TAPG’s Stephen Roberston took this 2018 Tundra off the beaten path in Nara, Japan for a little product research.
Bon Voyage – Toyota Legal One’s Cheri Law took her 2017 Camry to Paris. Paris, Texas, that is. She says even though she hasn’t seen the “real” Paris (yet), this one was worth the drive.
