Kendo Connection

Christopher Yang spends his days as Toyota’s International General Counsel. But his other passion? Teaching Kendo to Plano residents. So, he took time out of his day to show us the basics.

Christopher Yang’s day job – as TMNA Chief International Counsel and Assistant General Counsel AND TMC Deputy General Counsel –  is impressive enough. But Yang is also a big deal in the kendo world, as a 7th degree black belt who won the U.S. National Kendo Championship in 2005.

Kendo, for the uninitiated, is a Japanese sport using bamboo swords. It’s something Yang has practiced for more than 30 years, gathering a wealth of knowledge he’s eager to pass on to his local community through the Plano Kendo Dojo. And, he invited Driver’s Seat to come learn a few things.
