Back in the Driver’s Seat

After a medical misdiagnosis cost Amanda Flores her arms and legs, a Maryland Toyota dealer helped bring her out of the darkness and back on the road

November 07, 2018

Some people give their cars nicknames.

Amanda Flores did. She lovingly calls her 2018 Sienna “The Phoenix.”

“Phoenix rose from the ashes,” Flores says matter-of-factly. “And I did, too. My minivan had a lot to do with that.”

Flores was a busy mother of two with a full-time advertising career when, around the end of 2014, she felt a little worn down.

It took three trips to the doctor to pinpoint the cause. By then, it was almost too late.

Watch the video above to hear Flores' story.
