American Journey: Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama

Go inside the plant that powers Toyota vehicles and puts a community to work

September 04, 2018
When you head north out of Huntsville, Alabama, it doesn’t take long before the city gives way to lush, rolling hills.

Then out of nowhere, you see it: a giant manufacturing plant encompassing 1.1 million square feet – Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama (TMMAL). More than 1,400 Toyota team members work there, building the engines that power Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia.

TMMAL and its team members power the community, too. When the plant opened in 2001, it transformed the local economy and the lives of many who lived there. And the commitment continues, with TMMAL investing more than $7 million in local philanthropic and educational initiatives.

Hear more from TMMAL members by watching the video below.
