The First Supra Finds its Home

Dealer John Staluppi gets keys to very first production Supra after a $2.1 million bid at auction

June 26, 2019

Life is good for John Staluppi.
If you were taking home the first ever 2020 Supra, life would be good for you, too.
In January, Staluppi, owner of the Atlantic Automotive Group, bid $2.1 million at the Barrett-Jackson Auction for the right to take home the first production 2020 Supra – VIN ending in 20201.
Monday, he finally got his prize in a ceremony at Toyota’s North American Headquarters in Plano, Texas. Group Vice President of Marketing Ed Laukes and Executive Vice President – Sales Bob Carter presided over the event as a few hundred team members gathered to see the handoff to a beaming Staluppi.
Staluppi says the Supra will make its way around his dealerships before settling in his impressive Cars of Dreams museum – the price tag alone makes it clear that he’s passionate about the Supra and the charities that benefitted from the auction.
Proceeds from the sale of the first Supra went to the American Heart Association and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
