Toyota turned up the heat on the red-hot SUV segment in frigid Chicago.
In addition to the 2020 Tacoma, it used the auto show to call attention to a TRD Off-Road version of the new RAV4, a TRD Pro variant of the Sequoia and a Heritage Edition of the Land Cruiser to celebrate the iconic SUV’s more than 60 years in the United States
For instance, the 2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road — set to arrive in the fall — gets such upgrades as:
- Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive
- TRD-tuned suspension inspired by Ryan Millen’s Rally RAV4 race team
- Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail all-terrain tires
- TRD 18-inch flow-formed matte black aluminum wheels
- TRD badging and other exclusive treatments inside and out
Highlights of the 2020 Sequoia TRD Pro — also due out in the fall — include:
- TRD-tuned Fox internal bypass shock absorbers
- Rigid Industries LED fog lights
- 18-inch forged-aluminum BBS wheels
- Black cast-aluminum running boards
- TRD front skid plate
- Top-level multimedia with JBL Premium Audio and Navigation
- Smart Key with push button start
- TRD Pro badging and other exclusive treatments inside and out
Conversely, the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition takes more of a minimalist approach, ditching the running boards, third-row seating and side molding in favor of:
- Darkened headlight housings
- Fog lights with dark chrome surrounds
- Side mirrors with darkened chrome details
- Bronze forged-aluminum BBS wheels
- A vintage Land Cruiser logo
- Exclusive black leather-trimmed upholstery
Toyota will make a limited number of these Land Cruisers, with sales starting late summer.
