Road Trip: Here Comes Summer

Toyota and Lexus team members are really going places. Here’s a look at where they’ve been so far

May 29, 2019

Ah, finally. It’s summer, and we are so here for it. Whether that means a trip to the big city or off the beaten path, we love to see where you and your Toyota or Lexus have been.

So, remember: snap a selfie of you and your ride and send it to us at driverseat@toyota.com.

And, as if you needed more incentive to send in your pic, we're going to sweeten the pot a little bit. If we run your picture, we’ll send you a pair of Sockios to make sure your feet stay warm on those coldish campfire nights.

Here’s a look at your fellow team members’ travel so far.

Sit, Stay, Pose – Allan Pett of R&D packed his whole family, including his dog, Baja, into this 2017 4Runner TRD Pro (his wife and daughter are behind the camera, helping capture the perfect picture). They road tripped to the Pisgah National Forest in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.
Quite the Climb – Quality product engineer Thomas Brownell took his 2017 4Runner for a climb up the Mt. Washington Auto Road in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire. Good thing he’s not afraid of heights –  it’s a nearly 5,000-foot ascent!
Tunnel Vision – Quality product engineer Scott Mason took this 2016 Lexus GS F for a spin near the Angeles Crest Highway in California.
Come for the Pottery, Stay for the 4-Wheel Drive – Production Engineering plastics senior engineer Tyler Cassedy likes to road trip to Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, on weekends with his girlfriend. He recommends the locally handmade pottery, soap and wine. Cassedy says in colder months, the town’s general store is “filled with the classic smell of its wood burning fireplace, which is still used to heat the building.” Dang. That sounds awesome. Can we come too?
Lexus in the Wild – Jerry Brown of TFS took this beautiful LC500 for a road trip through the Texas Hill Country. He said
the wildflowers were gorgeous, and judging by this picture, we’d have to agree.
Long Way from Home – What’s Icelandic for “road trip”? R&D engineer Michaela McJunkin ventured to Iceland’s east coast and rented a Land Cruiser to get from point A to point B. She says it got her through two days of white-out blizzard conditions and off-roading. Stórkostlegur! (Google says that’s Icelandic for “fantastic.”)
Grille Season – Lexus Marketing’s Chris Estes loves to take his Tacoma for scenic drives to see the Texas wildflowers. He snapped this photo in Gunter, not too far from Toyota Headquarters.
Proud Mama – Kathleen Matteson of TFS Central CSC shared this photo of her daughter, Army Private First Class Jade Matteson. She is currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and this was the first time she had seen her mother’s Tacoma.
Smells like Summer – TMMK specialist Tommy Jackson says summer means sunroof season in Kentucky. Who are we to argue with that? Jackson’s adorable Dalmatian, Rory, is getting a little fresh air in a 2008 Highlander.
